System OverviewDigital TVThe digital TV service will provide digital quality real-time broadcast content to a TV via an IP Set Top Box. Our system will provide the full Freeview channel line-up. Additional sports and foreign TV channels to meet your guests requirements can cost effectively be added. The system is managed via a web-based interface allowing remote diagnostics and high availability. This ensures quick response times to any problems or requests raised by the hotel and in many instances removes the requirement for an engineer to visit site. The solution recommended is designed to operate over IP and does not require a coax network. Content is purchased by entering a room number. Movies can either be charged or included in the room rate. Electronic Programme GuideThe electronic Programme Guide provides a guest the ability to access TV and VOD channels available. It provides the following capabilities
· TV grid of all channels available on the system · Programme information and what’s on now and next · Favourites · Options for selecting different languages and subtitling · Set recording of time shifted TV Time Shifted TV Time Shifted TV provides the option of delivering time shifted TV broadcasts to a guest ensuring that they have to miss a particular sports event or news item whilst staying at the hotel. Programmes are selected for storing from the electronic program guide (EPG) and stored for a predetermined period on the server. These programmes can then be accessed either on demand by individual users or automatically set to play out at set time intervals on a dedicated channel. TVMuxerThe TVMuxer enables the creation of a multicast stream from individual audio and video streams. The video stream can contain either moving pictures, slide shows or fixed graphic’s and is edited into an MPEG stream, which is then combined with the required audio feed. By using TVMuxer blank screens are avoided when users are listening to audio feeds from radio or stored music libraries and can be used for the delivery of messages or general information. Hotel PortalOur hotel provides a customisable portal interface that can be used to promote the digital broadband systems and other services offered by a client. It allows a client to promote itself, its brand and can be accessible on both the TV via the STB and a PC.
